Although it wasn't planned, this was my first night temple shoot, so we broke out the flashes and had some fun! The reception at Andy's Ranch in Santa Barbara was amazing by the way.

I really think these pictures capture Kelly and Kirk well. They are so love and you can see it in their faces. Kirk's Parent's house was a great location for the shoot too!!!

We had so much fun hanging out on Balboa with these two. We could have taken pictures all night.. and practically did. Nate taught me all about city planning as he is getting his masters. They are going to live it up in SanDiego after their wedding at the Sandiego Temple in october. Just wait till you see where the reception is!

Newport Temple never looked so... old

We are hoping to offer some vintage shots of the local temples by christmas... this is a quick example but thought i'd throw it up to see what people think

Just because

Cathy always does such an amazing job with our shoot. Posing shots, carrying heavy equipment, and keeping everyone happy (and me focused!) She will outright call me out by my full name and demand that i get a certain shot or check my exposure. She always nails it too. Especially with our sunset shoot today, i couldn't do this without her.
So right in the middle of our session, i looked over to ask for some fill light and couldn't resist taking this shot. I think it captures that beautiful smile, and the feeling that her countenance radiates... a fleeting moment captured in time. I love this work... and by george, i love my wife.

We just posted two of our recent shoots below but we have about FIVE MORE to post! Sorry for the delay - we've been out of the country and then shooting so many projects we couldn't keep up. This month we have six weddings so we're still very busy but we promise to catch up with our latest projects. It's been a blast. Thanks for checkin in :)

Renee's Bridals

Renee and her parents came down from Valencia to do a bridal session. We planned on shooting for about an hour, but the lighting was so great, and we all had so many ideas, that we shot into the night and didn't get finished until 9:00! We had a blast with these guys and look forward to doing some "trash the dress" shots with Renee after the wedding.

Katie and Trevor... Graduating from Pierside!

Yes, these two were both friends of ours before they started dating. They requested some standard engagement pics, something plain and simple... but we ended up pushing the line a little... ;)

Needless to say, they and everyone else love their announcements and we are thrilled. We're so excited to shoot their wedding, which is just around the corner.

Haunted Hotel Wedding

Here are a few of the fun pictures Kris shot while shooting with Amelia and Justin Lyon a few weeks ago. The location had a unique ecclectic feel and is supposed to be haunted. For 125 a night, I think i'm going to make Kris take me here soon!

Family Bike Ride

To get these pictures just right, I pulled Kris behind my bike on his longboard with a rope so he could shoot continous pics at the same speed as the Verhagens. The pics turned out great! Taj is so cute. I laugh when I look at his cute smile. It was a hilarious memory. Whatever it takes, right?

Morning at the Beach with the Girls!

These girls made waking up at 7:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning totally worth it! We wanted to do their "roommates photo session" before the sun got too high and they turned out really well. Of course, that's mostly because they are all so beautiful! Thanks girls. We had a blast with you! Here's a sneak peek of the shoot - lots more to come!

THE SMITH FAMILY

Cali is an adorable baby on a strict daily routine including situps, pushups, and chin lifts. We did this shoot right outside their new home in Irvine. You can tell the family looks right at home.

Welcome to earth Ryann Rachel Cannon!!

Ryann was born six days ago! She was only three days old when we took this picture! Honestly, she is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen.

KILEY AND SHANE ENGAGEMENTS - PREVIEW

This weekend Kiley and Shane blew us away! I think the speed of the oncoming traffic added to the energy of the shots!! And it was FREEZING. They were great sports. Here's a preview of what's to come!

INTRODUCING KEVIN AND KELLIE ANDERSON!

One word. Energy! Wow, Kevin and Kellie kept us on our toes and laughing all day. They were looking for less traditional and more fun/photojournalistic shots so Kris and I really had a good time with these two! They were so giddy, we were lucky to get any shots in between all the kissing :) Ha ha. And Kellie looked so beautiful! Loved it, love them, loved the shots!

Ok, this just makes me laugh. Kris had this shot in mind for them before we even got to the reception. One of my all-time favorites...ever.

I get chills every time I look at this picture. The love is tangible. Such an intimate moment right after being sealed.

CONGRATULATIONS NICK AND CAT LYON!

The perfect wedding day for the perfect bride and groom. Cat and Nick looked stunning! There was just an aura of love and excitement surrounding them the whole day. We had a blast with them! Congrats guys.

JARED AND RACHEL ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Knowing Jared and Rachel, we had a special idea for their engagement pictures. Off to the desert outside of Vegas we went! It was QUITE a day with a 6:00 AM wake-up call in our hotel room to make sure the sun was just where we wanted it for the shoot. Oh it was a cold day!! We bundled them up in between shot locations. They were great sports and we had a wonderful day with pictures that SCREAMED their personalities :) Thanks guys. We had a blast. Here are a few of our favorite shots.

NIC AND CAT ENGAGEMENT SESSION

We had so much fun taking pics of Nic and Cat last weekend. Their funloving and playful attitude gave the session an extra zest. And wow, Cat, she's so photogenic. Thanks for the great day! It felt more like a double date than work! Kris and I can't wait to shoot the wedding in a few weeks.

LOVE this shot! Anyone that knows this couple will agree that they really belong in the 50's. We were leaving for the shoot and Kris noticed how well the hanging apron matched their engagement card stock- Cat put it on and before she could say another word, Kris had a pot in her hand and the rest is history.

This was Nick's version of "The Fast and Furiouse" - Nice Nick...

Wedding of Niki and Darren Harris

We were excited to shoot Niki and Darren's wedding from the time they announced their engagement. It was a beautiful day and they were so laid back! It made the shoot fun for everyone and they make such a beautiful couple! Here are a few of our favorite shots of the day.

This one reminds us of an english garden. I love the way the side light hits the grass.

Dave and Carolyn Wedding Luncheon

It doesn't get more beautiful than a grassy knoll overlooking the ocean in Laguna! Dave and Carolyn wanted us to take a few shots during their wedding luncheon. The surroundings coupled with their adoration of eachother made us feel like each picture really captured a moment.

Brian and Heather Reception

This was definitely one of the most beautiful receptions we have ever been to. Hundreds of roses everywhere! The location was fantastic so we were able to get some fun detail shots and the couple so photogenic. We had a lot of fun at this one!

Melissa and Tyler Wedding and Reception

Melisaa and Tyler were a great couple to shoot. They were so excited and happy, even though it was a REALLY hot summer day! They were smiling the whole time!
